Guernsey ready to hit the ground running

JAMIE NUSSBAUMER believes that Guernsey's preparations could not have gone any better, with three days to go until ICC European T20 Division One Championship.

The Sarnian skipper led his side to a 33-run victory over a Sussex Premier League XI in the UK on Monday, a day after a battling 27-run defeat to the Sussex Academy.

With five meaningful warm-up games under their belts, Nussbaumer is raring to go in Jersey on Saturday, where his side face a double-header against Denmark and Norway to start their five-game campaign.

'We have done all we can and we can't wait to go in the tournament now, our preparation couldn't have gone any better and we are looking forward with optimism,' he said.

'Three wins and two defeats have come from the five games across the two weekends away, everybody is in good form and we have had some really good practice sessions as well.

'The nature of the tournament, with one team qualifying from it, means we have to hit the ground running and need a minimum of one win from this Saturday's two games.'
