Evans shocks Mitchell at L'Ancresse
ARTHUR EVANS pulled off the first major upset of the Intertrust Island Championship last night as he knocked out last year's finalist Jack Mitchell.
The La Grande Mare member, who plays off six, had beaten club-mate Rick Le Poidevin in Sunday's preliminary round to earn a shot at the 2007 champion and he made the most of his chance.
In extremely testing conditions as a force six westerly blew across L'Ancresse, Evans produced some impressively solid golf to lead from an early stage and not allow his opponent back into the match.
