JAMIE NUSSBAUMER led from the front last night as NGIT Cobo showed they mean business in defence of their Evening League Division One title.

The new season got under way in cold and blustery conditions at Port Soif, but that did not bother the reigning champions, who eased past Clubhouse Optimists.

On the grass wicket that all top level matches are being played on during 2015, lower scores were to be expected, but even then Optimists' 127 from 20 overs never looked like being enough.

And it was not, as captain Nussbaumer opened the batting with Stuart Le Prevost and plundered the ball to all parts, making light work of the moderate chase.

The Guernsey skipper would end unbeaten with a superb 82 not out from 51 balls, an innings that included 12 boundaries.
