THE fastest freestyler the Channel Islands has ever seen will be in Jersey for the NatWest Island Games.

Fears that British Swimming would prevent Miles Munro from spearheading Guernsey's medal onslaught at the Les Quennevais pool have finally been allayed and although the GB youth international will not be at either the opening or closing ceremonies, permission is granted for him to challenge for four individual titles and bolster the relay squads.

'He won't be tapered but it is great news that he will take part,' said his former coach Alison Frankland, who will be team manager in the sister isle.

'Miles won't arrive until the Monday and goes back on the Friday, but he will be competing in the 50, 100 and 200 free, plus the 50 fly,' said Frankland who, with a belly-flop of understatement, added: 'And he will be useful for the relays'.

Munro was an inspiration in the relays two years ago when his presence helped them claim two golds.
