Panthers look for Division Two South promotion

CLAIRE GREEN is the only regular name missing as Guernsey Panthers look for promotion into Division Two South for the first time this weekend.

The Sarnians are in a four-team round-robin tournament in Guildford on Saturday, from which the group winners will earn a spot in Division Two for 2015-16.

Having missed out at this same stage a year ago – where a defeat to Weston Park was costly – Panthers are confident they have what it takes this time around.

Taking on MSN, Trinity Oxford and old foes Brize Jets, their joint-coach Denise Bourgaize is pleased with the 12-player squad she has been able to name.

Other than unavailable defender Green, there are no other faces absent from the team who played the vast majority of a season in which they finished in third place in Division Three.

'We are very happy with our squad because all of the girls have worked so hard in training building up to this and know exactly what they need to do,' said Bourgaize.

Saffery Guernsey Panthers squad:

Nena Copperwaite (captain), Zola Saunders, Lorna Hall, Cassie Le Page, Amy Fallaize, Isla Murdoch, Kim Le Lacheur, Laura Bygraves, Steph Batiste, Shelley Jager, Abbie Greening, Jemma Green.
