New super-team Titans is formed

TITANS by name and, they will be hoping, Titans by performance.

A new squad of top-quality players has been formed and will look to challenge for next winter's new nine-team indoor league at the Grammar School.

The newly-created team has brought together nine players from various rival clubs and will be called Nerine Titans.

Captained by island player Kerri Brown and coached by Rob Jennings, the squad contains six players that have regularly played for Guernsey Panthers in the past two years.

Brown and her mother Lorna Hall move across from Resolution IT, while 2013-14 title-winning Nerine captain Donna Brehaut transfers from Thunder along with Shelley Jager, Laura Bygraves and Abbie Green.

Steph Batiste is another Panthers regular to join up, in her case from Morgan Sharpe, while former island players Lynsey Bougourd and Nat Graham are the other members of the squad.

Given the influx of talent into Titans, the new team will be strongly-fancied to be challenging reigning champions Blaze A and the two Resolution IT teams for the title.

Thunder are also losing Kim Le Lacheur to Blaze, but will try to replace their losses with Lydia McClean going in the opposite direction and the duo of Emma Isabelle and Claire Heaume signing from ABN.
