Eggo and Anees emerge victorious after 72 holes
FIVE years after his previous triumph, Bobby Eggo ended up demolishing the rest of the field to claim his 19th annual 72-hole scratch competition title by a massive 10 strokes on Friday.
Going into the final round of The Energy Centre Trophy at L'Ancresse, the island champion led by five from Danny Blondel and a further five from the rest of the field.
He then turned the screw on the fourth day as, for the third day in a row, he returned the best score and the only one under par as a 69 sealed his victory.
Meanwhile, a delighted Wasif Anees clinched the UV Trophy off handicap as he finished with an excellent six-under-par aggregate of 274 thanks to a final round of 68 nett.
In the inaugural Energy Centre Bowl Stableford event, Jon Lucas emerged victorious as 34 points on the final day saw him finished on 141 for his four rounds.
