Nightingale's brilliant 96 wins the day
TOM NIGHTINGALE was Guernsey's star with a brilliant match-winning unbeaten 96 as the under-18s began their tour of Denmark with a dramatic victory over the Netherlands.
In the first 50-over match, Guernsey will have been pleased with their effort in the field as they restricted the Dutch to 154 for eight from their 50.
However, that target looked a lot higher within the opening few minutes of the chase, as the Sarnians slumped to an awful position of five for four.
The ship was soon steadied and with a couple of partners who hung around for brief periods at the other end, Nightingale set about repairing the damage.
And he did just that, but it looked like he might run out of partners as, at 121 for eight and then 135 for nine, Guernsey needed 20 from the final wicket partnership.
But that is exactly what happened as Nightingale hit the winning runs to end a stunning knock. Louis Falla made an important 24.
