Jackson sets new local record of 477 miles in a day

GUERNSEY rider Paul Jackson beat his previous local record in the National 24 hour Time Trial Championships held over at Shrophire in the UK last weekend.

He finished in fourth position overall from the 105 starters, winning both the national championship in his age group and also the Veteran 24 Hour National Championship event, which was running at the same time.

His total mileage was a staggering 477 miles over the 24 hours which saw him riding constantly from 2pm on Saturday through until 2pm on Sunday afternoon at an average of almost 20 miles per hour for the duration.

His total mileage was more than 26 miles more than the previous record.

'I am absolutely over the moon with the result and although I spent the last few hours of the race vowing to myself that I would never ride a 24 hour TT again, I find myself already thinking of ways to improve for the next one,' Jackson said.
