Pothas 'ecstatic' at Guernsey's mental strength
AN UNBEATEN partnership of 39 from Ben Ferbrache and Dave Hooper edged Guernsey over the line yesterday as they recorded back-to-back victories over the Northern Universities Select XI.
In the second of their two 50-over games that formed the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Challenge Series, the Sarnians successfully chased down 193, winning in the final over.
Afterwards, director of cricket Nic Pothas was delighted with his team's efforts in their final game before they take on Jersey in the inter-insular at Port Soif in 10 days' time.
'I am more than happy with the skill levels in the group but what I am ecstatic about at the moment is the mental state that exists within the group,' he said.
'We have a group that understand cricket and are making the right decisions at the right times and the benefits of playing tough, competitive cricket off-island for many of them is being shown.'
