GFC led through a superb 11th minute strike from Ross Allen, but the lead was wiped out with a highly dubious equaliser on 55 minutes and then it was a case of trying to hold on against an accomplished unit.
The Lions defended stoutly but on 86 minutes Invicta nicked a deserved winner.
The result sent the victors up to second in the embryonic table and GFC down four places to ninth, one of six teams on the six-point mark, three points adrift of Folkestone and Herne Bay who have maximum points from three games.
