Tough task for Panthers in Sussex

AFTER two successive defeats, Guernsey Panthers will have to be at the top of their games if they are to get off the winning mark this weekend, says their captain.

Back-to-back reverses against Sussex NRG Pumas and Trinity Oxford give Sunday's trip to MSN the feel of a must-win game even this early in the Division Three South campaign, but they face a tough task to do so.

Sussex-based MSN have scored 103 goals in winning their opening two games and are one of three sides with a perfect record after being relegated from Division Two in the summer.

Those statistics are not lost on Panthers skipper Nena Copperwaite, who will at least be buoyed by her side's performance when the sides met in May's play-off competition.

'We lost that day, but we should have won. We created enough chances and played well enough, but our shooting was way off on that occasion,' she said.

'So we need our shooting to be a lot tighter than it was then, although that still doesn't guarantee a win because MSN are a very, very good team.'
