Seeded three for an event she has won twice previously, the 21-year-old Guernsey star backed her seeding by sweeping into the semi-finals, where she was defeated in four sets by Welsh number one Charlotte Carey.

Saturday had seen Garry Dodd star as the Sarnian men avoided the wooden spoon by defeating Jersey 3-2.

The left-hander won both his singles against Josh Band and Chris Morshead, while Alex Robinson collected his own win over 'chopper' Morshead to make the difference.

The women also avoided bottom spot in a five-team competition without the Caesareans.

The highlight was a fine 3-1 victory over Scotland and Loveridge and young Chloe Le Tissier very nearly added a second scalp, taking two rubbers off the English.
