Sylvans 1, Vale Rec 5

NINETEEN months had passed since Sylvans last lost at their St Peter's fortress and only three days earlier they had turned over Vale Rec in the Stranger Cup.

But yesterday's spectacular collapse on home territory underlines that Sylvans have some way to go before they can be regarded as serious FNB Priaulx title contenders, while it just may be that Vale Rec are indeed ready to end their championship drought. On this evidence the Yellows will take some toppling in the title chase.

Craig Tyrell scored twice and there were also goals for Nick Rumens, Seb Skillen and Glenn Le Tissier before Joe Alvarez netted a late consolation penalty for Sylvans.
