The reigning champions will be led by current world No. 2 Nick Matthew and also include Daryl Selby and James Willstrop in their ranks for the 25th edition of the biennial event, which will take place at the Al Ahly Club in Cairo from 12-18 December.

The seedings for the Championship are due to be released on 30 November.

Simpson has known of his selection since before he departed for the recently concluded World Men's Championship and revealed to the Guernsey Press that the Clic Sargent Classic at St George's Hill virtually acted as a final trial, which he came through with flying colours by winning the biggest title of his career to date there with victory over Selby in the final.

From the initial squad lists released yesterday, 15 of the world's top 20 players will be in attendance in Cairo and although England have named a strong quartet including two former world No. 1s, the hosts look to be favourites on paper.

Egypt boast a formidable line-up comprising of four players from within the world's top 12 featuring top man Mohamed Elshorbagy, World Championship runner-up Omar Mosaad, semi-finallist Tarek Momen and arguably the best player on the planet Ramy Ashour.

Meanwhile, France can call on newly-crowned world champion Gregory Gaultier.

This week Simpson, pictured, is in action at the Edmonton Open in Canada where he is the second seed in the $35k PSA Tour event.

He will face Egyptian Karim Ali Fathi, the world No. 42, in the first round tomorrow evening.
