ANOTHER convincing home win breathed life back into Guernsey Panthers' stuttering Division Three South promotion bid after an excellent display yesterday.

However, the 22-goal success over Trinity Oxford – who they leapfrog in the table as a result – came at a cost with a serious injury to Laura Bygraves.

She had to be carried off after snapping her Achilles in the second quarter and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines – including the rest of this season.

It is a big blow for the wing attack who has arguably been her side's best player thus far this season and was having another excellent game on this occasion.

A lead of 20-11 had been established by the time she went down in agony and that lead continued to grow as Panthers won every quarter.

Kim Le Lacheur was the replacement and also performed well but, in fairness, a large number of Panthers could claim to be player of the match, such was the excellence of the performance.
