Panthers right back in the promotion hunt
SAFFERY GUERNSEY PANTHERS roared back into Division Three South promotion contention with their fourth big home win in succession yesterday.
Starting the day in fifth, Panthers defeated MSN – who were two points above them – 42-30 in front of a decent-sized crowd at Beau Sejour.
It was a close-fought first half in which Panthers edged into a 21-19 lead, before a one-sided third quarter saw them all but win the match as they extended that advantage to 34-24.
The Sarnians move up to third and are right back in the hunt for a play-off spot now, although they face a tough trip this weekend to runaway leaders Clan with three of their four remaining games in the UK.
However, that did not stop Panthers joint-coach Denise Bourgaize from being buoyant about her side's chances after what she described as a 'superb' display.
'I am delighted with the way we played because it was a superb performance and every single one of the girls was absolutely brilliant,' she said.
