Dame Mary Perkins named as Guernsey 2021 bid chairperson
DAME Mary Perkins will chair the bid committee that is looking to win Guernsey the right to host the 2021 NatWest Island Games.
The lengthy wait to find the right person to fulfil the role came to an end yesterday with the confirmation that the Specsavers co-founder had been named as the chairperson.
And as the new committee looks to put together its official bid document by the end of this month, the news is a timely boost for the Guernsey Island Games Association.
Dame Mary said that she can- not wait to get going: 'I thought the Games we hosted in 2003 were the most brilliant thing I've ever been to and included the whole island.
'When I heard the plans to host again in 2021, I really wanted to be involved and the chance to have the Games here again is so exciting for everybody.'
