Guernsey Raiders 11, East Grinstead 25

G-FORCE were as strong as expected but they also proved to be smart as they inflicted a first defeat of 2016 on Raiders on Saturday.

Guernsey enjoyed plenty of possession throughout the clash of sixth versus fourth in National Three London & South-East at Footes Lane, but importantly the promotion-chasing East Grinstead had the best defensive line seen there this season and, bar one perfectly-executed catch-and-drive line-out early in the second half that brought the hosts' only try, G- Force looked virtually impenetrable.

There was little in terms of flair from the visitors as an attacking force, but they made the most of the limited opportunities afforded them by Guernsey to outscore them three tries to one on a frustrating afternoon for Jordan Reynolds.

'They deserved it, they are a good side and they will be fighting up in the top section of the league for the rest of the season,' said the GRFC director of rugby.

'They were allowed to get away with slowing the ball down, but that was just them being smarter on the day than we were.'
