Rangers had booked 3G for five 'Priaulx' games

BOTTOM of the FNB Priaulx League table Rangers are hoping football's League Management Committee will have a change of heart over the use of the KGV 3G.

With their St Andrew's home ground suffering from the persistently wet weather the island's oldest club had booked the artificial surface for five first-team games.

But they will be forced into a re-think after the LMC and GFA jointly agreed to put a stop to any matches of senior first-team level on the 3G surface overseen by the Guernsey Sports Commission.

Darren Ogier, former president of Rangers and now a youth coach with the club, said Rangers was a big supporter of the KGV facility.

'We have been using it as a training facility since November and we have it booked until March for minis, youth and seniors.

'We have made a similar booking already for next season as we want our players to be able to play this winter sport in the winter,' he said.

Ogier added: 'We had also made a bold decision at a recent committee meeting to book five midweek times to allow our Priaulx side to play regular football.

'We have these dates confirmed and we're going to ask to give up five home games to allow this to happen.

'We do not have sufficient lights to allow midweek games at St Andrew's and we had hoped for this to be helpful to the LMC when arranging fixtures.

'We had also committed to pay for this ourselves and therefore at no cost to any other club or association.
