LMC propose radical changes to domestic football

PROMOTION and relegation throughout a four-tier pyramid has been suggested by the League Management Committee in what would be a radical overhaul of Guernsey's league structure.

The exciting developments, which are due to be discussed and hopefully finalised at a LMC meeting on 7 April, have come about after lengthy discussions with all of the GFA clubs involved.

Nick Graham, Brian Horsepool and Andy Robert – who make up the LMC's executive committee – have spearheaded those talks as the need to 'freshen up' the existing structure has become apparent.

There are also mooted changes to the youth structure, including the implementation of a new under-15s league and possibly scrapping the Corbet Cup, but it is the alterations to the senior game that catch the eye.

Under the new proposals, three divisions called Senior One, Senior Two and Senior Three would be installed below the Priaulx League in time for next season and including promotion and relegation.

It is then hoped that in a year's time, ahead of the 2017-18 season, the Priaulx League would also then be part of the promotion and relegation cycle for the first time in history.
