Magnificent Seven 'Rezzers'
RESOLUTION GREEN turned in their 'best performance of the season' as they secured a superb 'Upton' triumph over Jersey champions Convent A.
Despite the visitors to Grammar School being without most of their Jersey Jets, there were still four of that 'national' team in action – including Lisa Luce – and they arguably entered as favourites.
But Guernsey champions 'Rezzers' made a mockery of their own underdog tag with a magnificent effort that saw them win a high-scoring thriller 64-57.
Come the final whistle, they had ended a 14-year wait for a Guernsey winner of the fixture by becoming the first Channel Island champions from this island since 2002.
Rezzers played an unchanged seven throughout that have been integral to their title-winning campaign, including Anna Trump at wing attack.
She was joined by Lois Batiste and Tiff Gervaise-Brazier in the centre court trio, while Abby Bisson and Claire Green were the defensive duo, with Verona Tomlin and Clare Henry shooting.
'I think the high-scoring result summed up the nature of the match because it was a high-quality game between two very good sides who both turned up and played good netball,' said Trump.
'Saying that, we always thought that we were on top because the closest they got was to within three of us and when we needed a goal, we generally got it.
'It was definitely our best performance of the season against a very strong Jersey team but what was most pleasing was that we had no one standout performer.
'Everybody was superb – we defended as a team, attacked as a team and pressed as a team. We were patient when we needed to be, stepped it up when it was needed and took our chances.'
