And the week of action may yet become even more action-packed should a proposal to add a fourth class running at the same time be accepted later this year.

Last month, the Guernsey Powerboat Association learned that they were successful in their bid to host the 3a and 3b World Championships, as well as the V24 European Championships.

GPA chairman Colin Clarke is optimistic that will happen and if it does, it will be the inaugural World Championship held in that particular category.

Furthermore, Clarke has confirmed that the GPA also hopes to host an 'International Ordinary' event for the exciting X150 class, which the outcome will be known of later this year.

'An international event consisting four different classes – if it happens – certainly conjures up a mouth-watering possibility for Guernsey, not seen since the days when the Class Ones were in Town,' said Clarks.

The dates of the championships have now also been ratified and will be held in the waters of St Peter Port between 4 and 10 September 2017.
