New champion guaranteed at Sand Ace

THERE will definitely be a new British champion crowned tomorrow at Vazon at the prestigious Sand Ace Championship.

It is the 11th successive year that the event has been held and because of the hectic UK motorsport calendar, it has been decided to host it this early in the summer in order to attract a stronger field.

Various reasons have meant that there will be no former winners on the start line in the blue riband 500cc solo category – one of two British championship classes being staged – but the organisers of the event claim it is still 'probably the strongest line-up in the event's history', with three European international riders among the entry.

The event format will see each rider or team take part in four heats, with the highest scoring eight solos and six sidecars qualifying for their respective 'sudden death' finals.

The finishing positions in the finals determine the overall result.

The first race is at 11.30am and spectators can watch for free, although donations are welcomed.
