Tomlin joins new-look coaching team
FORMER British Super League player Verona Tomlin is part of a new senior netball coaching team tasked with the job of closing the gap on Jersey and finally gaining promotion from British Division Three South.
Tomlin will team up with Tracie Hards and men's star player James Robert for the new season.
And new GNA president Gill Queripel is excited by the changes both at the top, but also further down the age-groups and a new winter Premier League set-up featuring just five teams – plus the island men's side.
'I think we have stagnated somewhat,' said Queripel who admits the senior island team needs to toughen up.
'We need to get more aggressive on the ball and get tougher.'
Queripel is excited as to what Tomlin, in may people's eyes the best player in the domestic leagues, but not part of the Saffery Panthers set-up, will bring to the senior squads who will undergo two sets of trials – one next month for those keen to be part of the British League campaign – and another set in January to prepare for the inter- insular.
