Le Huray extends his lead over the chasing pack
TOM LE HURAY has increased his lead in both the Energy Centre and UV Trophies as the island's major 72-hole strokeplay event reached the halfway stage yesterday.
Following on from his outstanding opening round of 65, the island player returned a one- under-par 69 gross on day two to open a three-shot gap on Danny Blondel in the scratch standings, while his advantage in the handicap competition has grown to a massive eight shots from a chasing pack of four players.
Le Huray got off to a solid start yesterday with three consecutive pars before dropping his first shot of the week with a bogey on the fourth.
He immediately regained that shot with a birdie three on the fifth, before an eagle on the par-five sixth got him into red figures for the day as he reached the turn in 33.
He did drop two further shots on the back nine with fives at both the 11th and 17th holes, but a birdie on the long 14th ensured that Le Huray finished under par once again for a 36-hole aggregate of 134 nett 130.
