Le Huray wins the double after a superb closing 68

TOM LE HURAY was left holding both prestigious pieces of silverware after winning both the Energy Centre and UV Trophies thanks to an outstanding final round 68 at L'Ancresse on Friday.

Knowing exactly what he had to do to overtake Danny Blondel in the scratch standings with Blondel having already come in with a 73 in testing windy conditions at L'Ancresse to finish on a 72-hole aggregate of 278, Le Huray produced an exceptional round of golf that he described as even better than his opening bogey-free 65 considering the circumstances.

To emphasise the nature of the conditions, only Guernsey's best ever golfer Bobby Eggo, who also carded a 68, managed to beat Blondel's score.

Le Huray's six-under-par gross aggregate of 274 amounted to a 266 total off the two handicap with which he started the week, but his form has seen his exact handicap drop from 1.7 to 0.0 over the four days. It is the first time he has reached scratch status.

He won the UV Trophy by a remarkable 13 shots from runner-up George Melhuish.
