Adamson is delighted with his side's progress so far

AFTER already passing through the halfway mark of their debut FNB Priaulx League season, Alan Adamson is pleased with the progress new-boys Alderney have been showing.

The heavy early-season fixture scheduling means that the Ridunians have racked up 11 of their 21 games in the opening 10 weeks and currently sit fourth in the table.

Four wins have helped contribute to a total of 14 points, with positive results being achieved against each of Vale Rec, Sylvans, St Martin's, Bels and Rangers.

As his team hope to push on further by beating Bels this weekend, coach Adamson is delighted that his young side decided to make the step up to Guernsey's top tier.

'We felt that entering the Priaulx League was the natural next step for us and we are glad that we did because we have shown that we can compete at this level,' he said.

'Aside from the closing stages at Rovers last weekend, we have been highly competitive in every game we have played and there is not one team that has worried me.

'The problem at the moment is that we have a lot of injuries piling up and we are battling to get teams out, but the players are all learning loads from this experience and that is the most important thing.

'We started the season as a defensive team but we have learned to come out and attack a bit more now as we have learned what the league is about, so it is about getting the balance right.'
