Fly-half Thomas back to orchestrate Raiders

OWEN THOMAS has given Guernsey Raiders an early Christmas present by returning to the starting XV for tomorrow's clash with Guildford.

Having recovered from the blow he took against Tonbridge Juddians on 5 November, the influential fly-half has been included in a much-changed backline to that which started the defeat at Wimbledon last week.

'Owen has been training for the last couple of weeks, was involved in full contact on Tuesday and there does not seem to be any issues,' said coach Jordan Reynolds.

'We are happy that we have given him as much time as he needs, he has passed all the tests and he feels he is good to go. That's a boost for us because he gives us that little bit of direction and that will be important in how we want to play against a very good Guildford side.'

The return of Thomas allows Reynolds to switch Sam Whitehead onto the wing and he will form part of an all-Kiwi back three along with Malcolm Barnes and Kenny Hellier.
