A super Sunday for Panthers

HAILED as 'super' by their captain, Saffery Panthers' shooters fired their side to a big victory on a Sunday afternoon that could not have gone any better for the Guernsey side.

Still right in the hunt for Division Three South promotion, Panthers romped to a 58-26 success at struggling Bucks Phoenix to make it four wins in their last five matches.

When they found out later that the only two sides above them – Sussex NRG Pumas and Meon – had both suffered shock heavy defeats, Panthers' smiles would have widened further.

It all means that Panthers remain in third place but just seven points off leaders Pumas and five off of Meon, who they still have to face in the remaining three games.

'The results were great for us and it means that we still believe we can win the title because all of the sides have tough games left,' said Panthers captain Nena Copperwaite.

'What is fantastic from our point of view is that we seem to be finding our best run of form at the right point of the season, which hasn't always been the case.'
