After more than a decade of dominance now, Louise Perrio is an old hand at winning the FNB Winter Series women's crown, but for David Emery, tasting championship success in the men's category was a brand new experience and he did it in style with an emphatic victory in the fifth and final race of the 2016-17 programme on the Home Farm course.
The race started in sleet and a wind-chill temperature of just above zero, but Emery made light work of the slippery and sometimes technical course to win by well over a minute from Jason James and Tristan Robilliard.
It was Emery's third win in the five-event series and capped a strong campaign.
