The 2016-17 season has been one where Jersey have been thumped at every level by the Sarnians, with this success in the first-team match incredibly the closest scoreline of the lot.

It means a successful Guernsey retention of the famous old trophy, but is the first time they have won away in four years at the New Gilson Hall.

'I was delighted with the team performance and the effort put in by every player and hope that this can continue to the Island Games in Gotland in June,' said Guernsey selector Sue Naftel.
