It was a mixed Saturday for Guernsey's two teams in UK league competition - with contrasting fortunes for our top footballers and rugby players.

Guernsey Raiders will look back at it with fondness as they maintained their top-five hopes in National Three London & South-East with an important home win over Westcliff.

In a clash between fifth and seventh at Footes Lane, it was the host Sarnians who secured a bonus point success after winning 26-20.

However, it was an afternoon to forget for Guernsey FC, whose relegation worries in Ryman South have increased after losing to Molesey - who had begun the afternoon level on points.

Dave Rihoy struck for the Green Lions but it was too little, too late in a 3-1 defeat with Molesey's win achieved by Rupert Sobowale's hat-trick.
