GUERNSEY will have to show extra resilience and determination as they look to win back the Nigel Gavey Trophy tomorrow, says coach Colin Fallaize.

After the heavy Star Trophy defeat for the under-15s a week ago, it is now the turn of the under-16s to try to get the better of Jersey in age group 'Muratti' football.

Footes Lane will play host to the clash where Jersey are holders, but in the knowledge that when many of these players met in the 2016 Star Trophy, it was Guernsey who were victorious.

However, coach Fallaize – who after this game will have coached against Jersey at every level of GFA representative football – says that does not matter a jot.

'Of course that win last year when these lads played Star Trophy is good and it is a nice memory to have, but it will have no relevance as to what happens this Sunday,' he said.

'If you lose one year, it can make you extra-determined the next and the opposite can also sometimes be true, in that if you win one year, you can rest on your laurels.

'So we have to make sure that the lads go out there with the same work ethic, attitude, desire and determination again to see if they can get the win.'
