English happy after high Belgium road race placing
JACK ENGLISH enjoyed a strong performance out in Belgium at the weekend, as the 19-year-old competed in the one-day Omloop Van Het Waasland race.
The talented young Guernseyman described himself as 'happy with the result' after finishing 27th out of 152 finishers, including being the second best-placed British competitor.
Unfortunately, another of Guernsey's off-island cyclists, professional rider James McLaughlin, did not get the chance to continue his good form at the Tour of Rhodes.
Due to ride in the high-quality field in the three-day stage event on the Greek island, McLaughlin was forced to pull out late last week due to illness.
However, he remains confident that he will be back fully fit and firing for the Tour of Taiwan at the end of March, an event he describes as one of his main season's goals.
