SAFFERY PANTHERS could give a debut to two players on Sunday as they look to seal an unlikely Division Three South title on what could be a dramatic final day of the season.

Given that they were 15 points behind leaders Sussex NRG Pumas just four games ago, few expected this final trip to Sussex Lightning to have any title significance.

But the leaders' slump in recent weeks, allied with Panthers' own superb form, means that they could still earn the one automatic promotion spot on offer.

However, it could be a day when the calculators are needed or, at the very least, an eye on two other games taking place in other areas of south-east England.

Despite needing to rely on other results going their way – in simple terms, Meon and Pumas both to lose – Panthers joint-coach James Robert is only focusing on one game.

'I think it is quite easy because if we don't win, we can't be champions, so the focus hasn't changed from a normal league game,' he said.

'We need to concentrate on this one first before thinking ahead. Of course its a natural reaction to be curious about the other results, but they mean nothing if we don't win our game, so our focus is on doing that and then seeing what happens after.'
