Dutch test results encourage Greens

GUERNSEY captain Jamie Nussbaumer said that the visit of the Netherlands A side this weekend proved hugely beneficial in his young team's development.

The Dutch brought with them 10 of their national squad members in a youthful touring party and provided ideal opposition for the home island in three competitive matches played at the KGV.

Guernsey won the opening T20 by four wickets on Friday evening before the Dutch levelled the score with victory in Saturday's 50-over contest which swung one way then the other throughout the day. Sunday's match was eventually abandoned due to rain with the Dutch having made 150-5 in their innings of a T20 contest.

'Just getting out there and playing has been great because you learn so much more from playing matches than you do in training,' said Nussbaumer.

'We were aware that the Dutch were going to be a strong side, but we have been very evenly matched which has been great for both sides because both have got a lot out of it.'
