Four more golds were won in the Solbergabadet pool and among those to take to the top step of the podium were Games veteran Ben Lowndes and debutant Jonathan Beck, who joined forces with Tom Hollingsworth and Miles Munro to storm to victory in the 4x100m freestyle.

'It's been a really good Games and it's nice to see a fairly new team with some youngsters coming through, although I think it's good to have experienced swimmers in there as well to help them along,' said Lowndes, for whom this is his ninth Games, but he hopes not his last.

'I am definitely looking to make double figures, so hopefully get to Gibraltar with some hard work, but maybe it would be nice to finish on a home Games and possibly be with my daughter and then she can continue the family name in the Games,' he added of daughter Ebony, 11.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Beck has more immediate ambitions after a brilliant first Games.

'To come away with three golds, a silver and a bronze is what I have dreamt about as my highest goal for Gotland,' he said.
