The Guernsey driver and his team mate, Harry Tincknell, are aiming to extend their lead in the GT drivers’ championship and have a good strong race in their No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT in the fifth round of the series – the Six Hours of Mexico.

‘The important thing for us is to go to Mexico City and have another strong weekend,’ Priaulx said.

‘In the WEC you can’t afford to have a DNF [did not finish] or a bad weekend, as it is such a competitive championship and every race counts.

‘Last year, Mexico was one of our toughest races and the altitude affects the turbo cars, so we are not expecting an easy time there.

‘We are now focusing very much on the championship and so, after what for me was a great summer break, it will be heads down and all systems go to score as many points as possible,’ added the triple world champion.
