Debut for Horrocks on Midlands trip
FORMER New Zealand schoolboy Doug Horrocks goes straight into the Guernsey Raiders 1st XV as they start their new National Three London & South East Premier campaign at Towcestrians on Saturday.
Two more of the Raiders’ new boys, Charlie Currie and young Aussie scrum half Kyle Brown, are on the replacements bench and coach Jordan Reynolds could hardly be more pleased with the hand he has got starting a new season in which he hopes the club can improve on their fifth-place finish back in April.
'I’m really pleased with the squad – there’s a lot of experience, which shows the new depth of the club is coming to the forefront,’ he said.
Reynolds, who has to do without wingers Luke Jones and Anthony Armstrong, who are both away, said that the mood in the squad is terrific, although he was worried as recently as a fortnight ago.
‘A couple of weeks ago I was a bit concerned with the mood. But in the last two weeks the mood has changed completely as the processes we have been working on have clicked. The atmosphere has been fantastic.’
