Rampant Raiders run riot

MEN against boys was the post-match verdict and Raiders could never have expected it to be so easy as they headed to the Midlands for their opening match of a new London & South-East Premier season.

Towcestrians did not pull up any trees last season, finishing 10th in the Midlands section and on this evidence they won’t enjoy their move south one bit.

They were totally outclassed and 80 minutes after the first whistle of a new campaign, Raiders had run in 11 tries, 10 of them converted by fly-half Owen Thomas, to win 75-5 and Jordan Reynolds’ side led the embryonic table on points difference.

Full-back Luke Sayer helped himself to a first-half hat-trick of tries and by half-time Raiders had maximum points all but secured with a 40-5 lead.

By the finish front-rowers Sam Steventon and Tom Ceillam had grabbed a brace of tries apiece and the Guernsey side flew home without any knocks to report and all 18 men in the squad – including debutants Doug Horrocks, Kyle Brown and Charlie Currie – getting a good run-out.
