Bels face true examination of how far they have come

BACK on terra firma after the high of overseeing Bels’ first win in 10 months, Charlie Pinsard says tonight’s trip to St Martin’s will be the true barometer of his side’s progress.

After showing their improvement with two draws in their opening three games of the Priaulx League season, Bels went even better on Saturday by winning 3-2 at Sylvans.

So, with last campaign’s points total of four overtaken just a handful of games into this, the coach has had to alter the expectations for his squad.

‘We had a good old celebration on Saturday night and the lads all deserved it because they have been fantastic, have worked hard and bought into what I have been trying to do since I came in,’ said Pinsard.

‘But now we go again, we want this to be just the start of what we achieve and we start from scratch again and try to produce performances like we have on a weekly basis.

‘I said at the start of the season that my aim was to get more points than last season – we have done that and we have plenty of time to build on that now.'

Tonight's game kicks off at 7.30pm and sees both teams approaching full strength again, although Saints are still short of some players on the treatment table.

Chris Le Noury is still sidelined with ankle ligament damage, but coach Leon Meakin is able to welcome back Aaron Gallie and Lewis Germain into his defence.
