Fast and flowing circuit will suit Priaulx’s Ford GT

AFTER sombreros and flatcaps, Andy Priaulx has moved on to the state of cowboy hats as the battle for the FIA World Endurance Championship arrives in Texas this weekend.

The Guernsey star and his teammate Harry Tincknell retained the lead in the drivers’ championship a fortnight ago in Mexico City, since when Priaulx has taken a brief break from his Ford Chip Ganassi Racing GT to drive a 1958 Ford Zodiac in last weekend’s Goodwood Revival alongside Theo Paphitis of television’s Dragons’ Den fame.

It is back to the more serious business of the WEC now, though, with the Sarnian looking forward to returning to Circuit of the Americas in Austin for round six of the 2017 series.

‘We have fought all year to get this lead in the championship, we are not going to give it up easily and are very positive about our chances in Austin,’ said Priaulx, who holds an eight-point lead with Tincknell.
