The 30-year-old informed the island squad of his decision at the end of the ICC World Cricket League Division Five tournament in South Africa earlier this month and has revealed that there were several reasons behind it including his increasing struggle to manage long-standing injuries, his upcoming wedding next summer and his belief that now is a good time for younger members of the island squad to drive the team forward.

Josh Butler, who has skippered the Guernsey Sarnians team in Sussex Cricket Premier League Division Two this season, is considered the front-runner to take on the Guernsey captaincy.
