Allen could return as Guernsey FC hunt notable scalp

DESPITE coming up against arguably the most free-scoring team in the league, Tony Vance is confident that Guernsey FC can trouble Carshalton Athletic tomorrow.

After a 10-day break since their comprehensive defeat to Bostik South leaders Lewes, the Green Lions return to action at Footes Lane.

But the test barely gets any easier for Vance’s men, as they face a Carshalton side that only lost their unbeaten start to the season last time out at Hastings United.

And with 23 goals in 10 games, it has aided a strong start that will see them climb high into the play-off places should they win their game in hand on those above them.

However, GFC manager Vance is buoyant and is able to call upon star striker Ross Allen again if he wishes after his return from an extended holiday.

‘We played Carshalton at the tail-end of last season and drew 2-2 with them, where we played exceptionally well because they are a very good team,’ said Vance.

‘But it isn’t a game I am fearful of at all – I believe we have the options and the qualities to be able to hurt them and cause them problems.’
