‘Re-engaged’ Raiders face tough away trip

COMPETITION for places is breeding enthusiasm, says Raiders coach Jordan Reynolds as he prepares his side for an away clash against another of the top sides in London & SE Premier this weekend.

Sidcup await the Raiders and although the south-east London side have lost their last two after a four-from-four start, Reynolds expects them to be another of the season’s big challenges.

‘From what I hear they are a very enthusiastic side and use a simple format which they do very well. This will be one of the biggest tests for us,’ said Reynolds, who welcomes back Doug Horrocks into the starting XV after resting the star New Zealander for the big home win over Southend Saxons before the break.

That big win came after the disappointing loss at Dorking when Raiders conceded two late tries to let a winning position slip.

It cost them their unbeaten record and overall top spot, which is now filled by Barnes with Raiders second.

‘The Dorking defeat was what we needed – we were probably getting ahead of ourselves a bit.

‘But we’ve re-engaged with what we are trying to do and the lads are really excited about this match,’ said the coach, who has announced a strong team and bench.
