Sloppy Lions tamed as mini-revival slows

TONY VANCE saw the good and bad of his new-look, developing side in almost equal measure as they slipped to a 4-2 home defeat at Footes Lane against Herne Bay.

There was satisfaction in seeing his men produce exhilarating first-half football cheered on by the biggest crowd in the division, but enjoying the strongest support does not guarantee points, especially when you defend corners poorly and waste clear-cut chances.

The end result is that GFC slip two places in the Bostik South table to 18th, six points clear of the bottom three.

‘The game should have been dead and buried and we should have been out of sight at half-time,’ groaned Vance below the Garenne Stand as 656 disappointed supporters departed.
