Title chasers aware that only a win will do

UNBEATEN leaders Rovers will be interested onlookers tonight as their two nearest FNB Priaulx League rivals clash under the Blanche Pierre Lane floodlights.

Second-placed St Martin's host third-placed North but both sides know a defeat – or even a draw – would give them a mountain to climb to dethrone the reigning champions, who have dropped just two points.

So, with both sides near full-strength for their first league head-to-head showdown of the campaign, it promises to be an intriguing encounter come 7.30pm.

‘This is probably a game that both sides think they will need to win because although there is still a long way to go after this, we certainly don’t want to be any further adrift of Rovers than we already are,’ said North coach William Woodford.

As for Saints, they are four points above North but have played two games more and have also played a game more than leaders Rovers, who they trail by three points.

‘This is an important game and one that we naturally want to win, they are always good matches when we play North and this one will be no different,’ said Saints coach Leon Meakin.
