Lions must be clinical against Whyteleafe

TURNING quality and chances into goals is key, says Tony Vance, as he prepares to try and pull Guernsey FC clear of the lower reaches of Bostik South tonight.

The Green Lions manager hailed Saturday’s first-half display against Herne Bay as ‘quite possibly our best ever half in this league’ but his side squandered numerous opportunities and eventually lost 4-2.

It makes tonight’s visit of Whyteleafe a crucial game as the Footes Lane hosts look to improve on their 18th-placed position, which was where they were prior to last night’s set of league fixtures.

‘Our form recently meant we took a toe out of the lower part of the table and, if we had won on Saturday, like we should have, we would have been 14th, which is dizzy heights for us at the moment,’ said Vance.

‘But saying we could have and should have does not change the reality that we got nothing out of the game and we have wasted the first one of back-to-back home games.'

Tonight’s match kicks off at 7.45pm.

GFC squad: Dennis, F. Tobin, Le Prevost, Dodd, H. Tobin, De La Mare, Dyer, Dodds, K. Mahon, Gauvain, Skillen, Young, Rihoy, Allen, Pereira, Legg.
