There have previously been ‘navigational’ rallies held on the island, but the 24 February event will mark the first time that full rally racing has taken place on the roads of Guernsey.

It will be based on the lanes of the upper parishes, primarily St Andrew’s and Forest. There will be 16 timed stages in both the afternoon and evening.

The event is being organised by the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club, with support from the Guernsey Motorcycle and Car Club, who have been working on it for around 18 months.

Now that it is confirmed and already has 15 entries, GKMC president and event organiser Karl Marshall is excited about the rally.

‘There has been a lot of work into making this happen from when we first thought about it 18 months ago all the way through to now,’ he said.

‘But we are delighted that it is happening and it should be a fantastic, quality event which will be exciting for the competitors and also spectators.

‘Hopefully it will become an annual event, that is the plan, but we will wait and see how this one goes first before we start thinking about next year.’
